Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for an ambulatory surgery center position requiring BLS and NBSTSA certification. Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields, instrument setup, assisting surgeons, and maintaining universal protocol throughout procedures.

The role covers gynecology, plastics, podiatry, orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT with a 4x10 hour day shift. Local candidates at local rate; travel rate applies beyond 50 miles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • NBSTSA certification preferred.
  • CST certification preferred.
  • License required if applicable.
  • Experience with aseptic technique, instrument processing, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol (time out).
  • Familiarity with electrosurgical units, fiber optic equipment, drills, and crash cart supplies.
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, laser safety, radiation safety, and sharps safety.

Responsibilities

  • Ambulatory surgery center setting supporting general OR and multiple surgical specialties.
  • Specialties include gynecology, plastics, podiatry, orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT.
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 6:55 AM to 5:25 PM.
  • Prepare sterile fields for surgical operations including instrument setup and patient draping.
  • Assist surgeons with gowning and gloving prior to procedures.
  • Support the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies and anticipating surgeon needs during procedures.
  • Distribute supplies and perform equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, codes, and policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • May perform specific specialty procedures and assist in orienting new staff.
  • Accepts local candidates at the local rate; travel rate for out-of-area candidates.
