Job summary

TotalMed is seeking a travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a 13-week position in Plainfield, New Jersey. This role involves delivering therapeutic activities, monitoring patient progress, and documenting performance as per guidelines. A qualified candidate must have at least 1 year of experience, current BLS and COTA certification, and state-specific licensure. Strong communication skills and the ability to assist patients safely are also required. The position involves 40 hours per week with 8-hour day shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Current BLS certification.
• COTA (NBCOT) certification.
• State-specific licensure required.
• Ability to lift and assist patients safely; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of anatomy, motor function, and occupational therapy principles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities and interventions as directed by the supervising OT.
• Monitor patient progress and report observations to the OT.
• Document patient performance and progress accurately.
• Assist patients with exercises and mobility training.
• Educate patients and families on techniques for independence.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care.
• Comply with state licensing rules and facility standards.
