Job summary

TotalMed Allied is seeking a travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a travel assignment in Bakersfield, California. The OTA will work under supervision of an OT to implement treatment plans and assist patients in developing daily living skills.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of OTA experience, current BLS and NBCOT (COTA), and is state-licensed. The 13-week travel assignment includes 40 hours per week and day shifts; travel stipends may apply.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Current BLS and NBCOT (COTA) certification.
• State-specific licensure is required.
• Ability to lift and assist patients; strong communication skills.
• Solid understanding of anatomy, motor function and OT principles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic activities and interventions as directed by the supervising OT.
• Monitor patient progress and report observations to the OT to support treatment plan adjustments.
• Document patient performance and progress accurately and in a timely manner per facility and state guidelines.
• Assist patients with exercises, mobility training, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Educate patients and families on techniques to improve independence in daily activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and equipment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated care.
• Comply with state licensing rules and adhere to facility and professional standards.
