Job description

Are you a detail-oriented travel professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? As a Travel Coordinator, you'll manage complex travel arrangements, support travelers through every stage of their journey, and play a key role in delivering outstanding service across the organization.

Location: Rockville, VA

Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid after training period

Compensation: $23.57-27.73 per hour*

This position is responsible for booking and managing domestic and international travel arrangements, assisting travelers throughout the travel process, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with organizational travel policies.

Responsibilities
  • Book, ticket, and manage domestic and international travel reservations.
  • Support newly appointed personnel from appointment through travel to the field.
  • Coordinate travel for organizational meetings, conferences, orientations, and special events.
  • Assist travelers with itinerary planning, travel documentation, and travel-related questions.
  • Monitor and resolve travel disruptions, schedule changes, and itinerary issues.
  • Provide travel support for assigned transient and regional travel requests.
  • Maintain accurate travel records and ensure compliance with travel policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, travelers, and travel suppliers to support travel needs.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Sabre or another Global Distribution System (GDS) is required.
  • Familiarity with Concur or another corporate online booking tool (OBT) is required.
  • Experience in corporate, agency, nonprofit, or mission travel preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international travel procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality of service.
  • Calm, thoughtful decision-making and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of world geography and international travel routing.
  • Awareness of geopolitical conditions and how global events may impact travel planning and traveler readiness.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and organizational values when supporting travelers and families.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience coordinating group, event, or conference travel, preferred
  • Experience with international travel documentation and visa-related travel, preferred.
  • Experience supporting travelers in a nonprofit, ministry, or mission-focused, environment, preferred.
