The Occupational Therapist Assistant works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and aids in the provision of rehabilitative services for people with physical, emotional, mental or developmental impairments.

Qualifications

• Must have earned either an associate's degree from an accredited school or a certificate from a community, technical or vocational college.
• Current state license as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) or be in the process of obtaining licensure.
• Current CPR certification.
• Assist patients with rehabilitative activities and exercises outlined in a treatment plan developed with an occupational therapist.
• Assess patient and caregiver learning needs and capabilities based on age, understanding and emotional status.
• Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of patient progress.
• Effectively collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to meet patient goals.
