Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Travel Cath Lab RN for a 13-week assignment in Decatur, Texas. The RN will support cardiac catheterization procedures, prep patients, assist during interventions, and monitor post‑procedure recovery while collaborating with cardiology teams.

Required qualifications include one year of Cath Lab RN experience, valid RN license, and current BLS/ACLS certifications. Preferred credentials include PALS/ENPC and RCIS.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before procedures including history review and exams.
• Position patients and prepare EKG leads for procedures.
• Assist during procedures: catheter, wires, balloons, stents, devices.
• Monitor hemodynamic signals and manage equipment during procedures.
• Support post-procedure recovery and safe transitions of care.
• Maintain cath lab equipment and supplies to ensure readiness.
• Communicate effectively with team, patients and physicians.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Summary

The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post‑procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Work Functions

• Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams
• Assist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed
• Assist physicians during procedures, including the placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions
• Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms
• Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery area
• Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure
• Support post‑procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
• Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
• Physical Abilities: must remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
• Interpersonal Skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism
• Technical/Motor Skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move around assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
• Mental Requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; work under close supervision occasionally or independently; handle irregular activity schedules with continuous concentration to detail
• Sensory: possess visual acuity and effective communication ability
