Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing seeks a skilled Cardiac Cath Lab RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Beckley, West Virginia. The RN will prepare patients for procedures, assist during interventions, and monitor post‑procedure recovery, collaborating closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams.

The role requires 1 year of Cath Lab RN experience, WV RN license, and current BLS/ACLS certifications. Preferred PALS/ENPC or RCIS. Excellent communication and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• One year of recent Cath Lab RN experience.
• Valid RN license per WV regulations.
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
• Current ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-procedure assessments, review history and physicals.
• Assist positioning and ensure ECG leads are correctly placed.
• Assist physicians during procedures with catheters, wires, balloons, stents, and devices.
• Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment and respond to rhythm changes.
• Support arterial/venous sheath removal and patient transport to recovery.
• Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamics during procedures.
• Support post-procedure recovery and transition to next care phase.
• Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment and stock for procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team, patients, families, and physicians.

Summary

The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post‑procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Work Functions

• Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams
• Assist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed
• Assist physicians during procedures, including placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions
• Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms
• Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery area
• Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure
• Support post‑procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
• Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills

• The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills

Physical Abilities

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend

• Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism

Technical/Motor Skills

• Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment

Mental Requirements

• Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
• Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
• Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail

Sensory

• Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
