Hawthorne Health is expanding its Home Network and seeks dual-credentialed Cardiac and Vascular Sonographers for an in-home imaging study across the Maine region. The role involves traveling to patient homes, performing echocardiograms and vascular imaging, and ensuring high-quality data collection over a 3- to 4-month contract.

You'll leverage portable ultrasound equipment, maintain patient comfort, and follow sponsor guidelines while coordinating travel and per-visit reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Active cardiac and vascular imaging registration (RDCS/RCS and RVT/RVS via ARDMS/CCI) required.
• Full-time availability or close to full-time for 3–4 month contract.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel regionally.
• Excellent communication and bedside manner; comfortable in home-based settings.

Responsibilities

• Travel to patient homes to perform in-home echocardiograms and vascular imaging.
• Transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment.
• Explain procedures and obtain informed consent from participants.
• Provide preliminary reports with measurements and comments.
• Adhere to ASE standards and sponsor imaging guidelines.
• Troubleshoot imaging equipment as needed.
• Maintain high-quality image labeling for cardiology review.

This is a full-time, travel, W2 CONTRACT opportunity for 3-4 months.

About the Role

We are expanding our Home Network and seeking dual-credentialed Cardiac and Vascular Sonographers to join an exciting new decentralized clinical study. In this role, you will travel regionally (may be local or across state lines) to patient homes to conduct in-home cardiac and vascular imaging visits, averaging approximately 25 visits per month. Travel expenses incurred per visit may include mileage, airfare, and hotel accommodations, reimbursed on a per-visit basis. The monthly stipend reflects both scan compensation and guaranteed availability for a period of 3-4 months with the potential to extend.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE

• Travel locally or across state lines to patient homes to conduct visits, averaging 25 visits a month
• Transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment
• Explain procedures and obtain informed cooperation from participant
• Perform echocardiograms and vascular imaging studies per protocol
• Monitor patient comfort and safety during imaging
• Follow sponsor and protocol-specific imaging guidelines
• Ensure accurate image acquisition and proper labeling for cardiology review
• Complete preliminary report with measurements and sonographer comments
• Maintain high-quality standards consistent with ASE Standards
• Perform basic troubleshooting of imaging equipment

WHAT YOU BRING | REQUIREMENTS

• Active registration in both cardiac and vascular imaging required (e.g. RDCS or RCS plus RVT or RVS through ARDMS or CCI)
• Full time, or close to full time, availability
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally/regionally
• Access to a personal computer and reliable internet required; tech savvy and self sufficient with digital tools
• Ability to work independently in non-traditional settings
• Excellent patient communication and bedside manner
• Adaptability in dynamic, field-based environments
• Time management and organizational skills

$8,000 - $10,000 a month

• Monthly stipend of $8,000 to $10,000, based on experience
• Travel expenses, including flight, rental car, and accommodations are included.
