  • 22 Stepdown beds
  • 10 Med-Surg (floor) beds

Patient Ratios

• Stepdown: 1:3
• Floor: 1:5–6

Clinical Details

• Patient Types: Cardiology, heart failure, post-cardiac surgery, med-surg/hospitalist
• Preferred Experience: Cardiac background strongly preferred

Drips (Titration Required)

• Heparin, Insulin, Nitro
• Cardizem, Nicardipine
• Lasix, Amiodarone, Dobutamine

Support & Staffing

• Charge Nurse: Dedicated (may take 1–3 patients if needed)
• House Supervisors: 3 available at all times
• Clinical Associates (CNAs)
  • Nights: Typically 1:16
  • Fully staffed: 1:8

Equipment & Monitoring

• Respiratory Support: NC, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, Trach to Vent
• RT Support: Dedicated Respiratory Therapist (9th floor)
• Telemetry
  • Tele techs monitor strips remotely
  • RN not required to read strips
  • System: Philips

Scheduling Requirements

Weekend Requirement (4-week period)

• 3–4 Saturdays/Sundays
• 2 Fridays + 2 Mondays
• Night shift may require Fri–Sun consistently

Holiday Requirement

• 1 major holiday (Eve or Day):
  • Thanksgiving / Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve / Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve / New Year’s Day

Additional Expectations

• Floating: Yes (traveler first to float)
• Pull to Floor: ~1 out of every 3 shifts
• Call/Standby: None
