Job summary

Nightwing Intelligence Solutions, LLC in Sterling, VA is seeking a detail-oriented Travel and Expense Analyst to join our finance team. You will process employee expense reports, ensure coding accuracy, and uphold government regulations and company policies.

You will also develop travel and expense dashboards, provide guidance to staff, and identify cost-saving opportunities while supporting continuous improvement in expense management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin, or related field.
• 1–2 years travel and expense experience, government contracting preferred.
• Strong data analytics, ability to extract and interpret data for decisions.
• Experience with analytics/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiar with Emburse, Concur or similar platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication.

Nightwing is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Travel and Expense Analyst with analytics experience to join our finance team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of travel and expense reports for our employees, in compliance with government regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Expense Processing: Review and process employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance, including verifying receipts and proper coding of expenses.
• Policy Compliance: Ensure all travel and expense activities adhere to company policies and government regulations, including the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR).
• Employee Support: Provide guidance and support to employees regarding travel and expense policies, procedures, and reimbursements.
• Reporting: Prepare and analyze travel and expense reports, providing insights and recommendations for cost‑saving measures.
• Data Analytics: Create and maintain travel and expense metrics, developing dashboards for end users across the company that tell a story and inspire action.
• Travel Coordination: Ensure compliance with government and company travel policies.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of travel and expense management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of travel and expense experience, preferably within a government contracting environment.
• Strong data analytics skills, including the ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data to support decision‑making and process improvement.
• Proficiency with analytics and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
• Software: Emburse (Chrome River), Concur, or similar platform.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with travel booking systems and expense management software.
• Knowledge of government travel regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills with a track record of identifying process gaps and implementing effective solutions.
• Ability to take initiative and proactively resolve issues.

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($55,000-$106,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
