Job summary

Resilience, a Chicago-based organization, seeks a Trauma Therapist for part-time engagement. You will provide individual, couples, and family therapy, plus quarterly support groups for sexual assault survivors.

  • Completion of 40-hour sexual assault training within 90 days of hire.

Trauma Therapist - Part Time

Department: Trauma Therapy
Reports To: Director of Trauma Therapy
Employment Status: Part-time, 20 hours per week, Non-exempt, Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Salary Range: $25-$40 per hour, based on licensure, experience, etc.
Location: Hybrid work schedule with at least 1 day per week in person. Positions available at both the Downtown Loop and Garfield Park locations, additional in-person duties vary.

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

The mission of Resilience is to end rape culture and empower sexual assault survivors through advocacy, education, and healing. Throughout Chicago, we provide nonjudgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, medical and legal advocacy, and public education and institutional advocacy to improve the treatment of survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault. Established in 1974, Resilience serves over 2,000 survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones annually.

GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION

This position provides individual, couples, and family therapy, and facilitates one eight-to-ten-week support group per quarter for adult and adolescent sexual assault survivors/victims and their significant others. Individual therapy sessions are provided virtually. Support groups may be offered virtually, onsite at our Central or Austin locations, or at other locations based on the modality and program needs. This is a part-time, non-exempt position, with a reduced caseload and flexible scheduling to accommodate part-time hours. Completion of a 40-hour sexual assault training is required before conducting therapy services; staff will be paid for their time.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide individual, couples, and family therapy
  • Facilitate support groups incorporating expressive therapies for survivors of sexual violence
  • Maintain a part-time caseload of ten to twelve clients
  • Conduct intake assessments and determine therapeutic interventions as needed
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and collaborative case consultations
  • Maintain accurate and prompt documentation in accordance with agency standards
  • Engage in community outreach and represent Resilience at local events and forums as needed
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to ensure holistic support for clients
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development
  • Integrate creative arts therapy approaches into trauma-informed care
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience providing therapeutic services to survivors of trauma or gender-based violence, including group or family work
  • Effective communication, documentation, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Reliable transportation for occasional off-site sessions
  • Flexibility to work some evening hours and occasional weekends
  • Clinical licensure is preferred (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCPC), although LSWs will be considered
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred, although other languages will be considered
  • Specialization or licensure in the fields of art therapy (ATR-BC), substance misuse (CADC), sex therapy (CST), and family therapy (LAMFT) are preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to further the reputation and financial stability of Resilience.

Additional background checks vary by position and are required for work with Chicago Public Schools, Cook County Health and Hospitals System, and for work with survivors who are incarcerated. Those who do not pass these requirements are not eligible for employment.
