The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties, Inc. seeks a compassionate Therapist for the Child Advocacy Center in Hudson, NY. You will deliver trauma-informed mental health services to child victims and their families, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and advocacy.

With a 40-hour work week and a $62,500 annual salary, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary MDT and maintain confidential records while serving a diverse community.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a mental health field and licensure are required.
  • Experience with trauma-informed services for child victims is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment to child victims and families.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services via phone or in person.
  • Maintain a caseload of 25–30 clients with accurate records.
  • Conduct assessments, treatment planning, intakes, and documentation.
  • Facilitate groups for victims' families and the community.
  • Assist clients with crime-victim compensation applications.
  • Respond to calls and provide advocacy (medical/legal) as needed.
  • Maintain confidential clinical records and logs per policy.
  • Collaborate on training and outreach with community partners.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team and coordinate care.
  • Record demographic data for national databases and grants.
  • Provide crisis hotline expertise to volunteers and 24/7 support.

Job description

The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly, community-oriented, safe environment where children and their families are offered the opportunity to receive comprehensive services when an allegation of child abuse has been made. It is a place where children can feel safe and at ease while being interviewed by a specially trained member of the CAC’s multidisciplinary child abuse investigation team (MDT). This team consists of law enforcement; child protective services; mental health and medical professionals; prosecutors; advocates; and other professionals trained to work with child victims and their family members.

The Therapist will develop/facilitate therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and advocacy, as well as provide information and referral services to victims of interpersonal crime and sexual assault(and their families), survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and to secondary survivors. This role includes individual and group therapy, forensic interview advocacy, hotline support, and participation in outreach efforts. The Therapist will ensure all services are culturally responsive, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed.

Position Type: Full Time-40 Hours/Exempt

Pay Rate: $62,500.00 annually

Work Location: 946 Columbia St., Hudson, NY 12534

Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with some evenings based on program needs

Job Duties Include:

  • Provide evidence based, trauma-informed treatment to child victims of abuse and their family members/caregivers.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services via phone or in person.
  • Maintain a caseloadof 25-30clients.
  • Provide assessments using standardized measures (assessment tools), treatment planning, and completing intakes and maintaining accurate and current case records.
  • Facilitate supportive and educational groups for victims' families and the community.
  • Assistclients with completing andsubmittingcrime-victim compensation claim applications.
  • Respond to client-related calls and correspondence to support treatment, provide personal advocacy, and offer medical and legal advocacy.
  • Maintainaccurate,timely, and confidential clinical records, service logs, progress notes, and related documentationin accordance withorganizational policies and applicable requirements.
  • Collaborate in the planning of professional training for professionals working with this population and provide outreach and prevention education programming.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes participation in monthly team meetings and coordinating treatment and on-going collaboration with community agencies.
  • Recording statistical demographic information for national data base and grant reporting via computer.
  • Provide clinical expertise to crisis hot-line volunteers and 24-hour crisis hot-line support.
  • Must have a Master’s degree and licensure in a mental health field.
  • Experienced in specialized trauma-informed mental health services for child victims of abuse, adult survivors, and non-offending family members.
  • Knowledge of sexual assault, child abuse, crisis intervention, and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Proficiencyin written communication, public speaking, smartphones, and computer systems.
  • Must understand HIPPA privacy laws.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Regular and steady attendance is a requirement for all positions.
