Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL is seeking a scrub technician to join our operating room team. You will assist in sterile prep, maintain sterile fields, and support surgeons during procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma and completion of a scrub technician training course; CPR per AHA; ability to respond quickly to emergencies and to work defined schedules with on-call expectations. This regular position qualifies for benefits when working 20 hours or more per week.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care per unit competencies.
• Identifies and monitors medications from the sterile field.
• Responds to emergency patient situations.
• Maintains electronic and paper medical records.

• Adheres to Infection Control and Safety Standards.
• Communicates with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Participates in committees and Performance Improvement activities.
• Maintains regular attendance; may work overtime and on-call; available within 30 minutes of call.
• Performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures, including those pertaining to confidentiality; demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards; utilizes the principles of aseptic practice and initiates corrective action when breaks occur; establishes and maintains a sterile field; performs scrub duties; performs sponge and sharp counts; inspects sterile items for contamination before opening; decontaminates instruments according to unit protocols; provides direct patient care according to unit specific competencies; identifies and monitors medications administered from the sterile field; responds appropriately to emergency patient situations; utilizes a PC or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS) and ORSOS system; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards and Electrosurgery Safety Policy and Procedures; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; must be available in hospital within (30) minutes of call; related duties as required.
