Job summary

Inova Health System in Northern Virginia seeks an experienced Trauma Surgeon (MD/DO) to join our busy trauma surgery department. The surgeon will provide care to acutely injured patients from the trauma bay through the ICU and floor, performing initial assessments, admissions, procedures, education and discharges in collaboration with board-certified trauma and critical care APPs.

Qualifications

  • MD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Trauma Surgery.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Surgery Residency.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia.
  • BLS certification at start.
  • Credentialing for CMS payor enrollment and Medical Staff privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency and scheduled surgical procedures for traumatic injuries.
  • Assess, diagnose, and stabilize critically injured patients.
  • Lead trauma resuscitation and coordinate multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure recovery.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results to guide treatment.
  • Maintain medical records and communicate plans with patients and families.
  • Supervise and mentor surgical residents, fellows, and staff.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, trauma research, and CME.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Trauma Surgeon (MD/DO) to join our team in the trauma surgery department of our Trauma Center. The Physician will provide services to the acutely injured patient across the care continuum, from the trauma bay to the intensive care unit and floor. The position will include performing initial assessments of the injured patient, admissions, procedures, education, and discharges, all while working collaboratively with a team of board-certified trauma and critical care APPs

Clinicians care for critically ill patients with traumatic injury, respiratory failure, severe arrhythmias and cardiac arrest, sepsis and septic shock, intracranial hemorrhage, altered mental status, coma, and more.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certification:Board eligible or board certifiedinTrauma Surgery
  • Training:Completion of an ACGME Accredited Surgery Residency Program
  • Licensure:Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia
  • Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start
  • Payer Credentialing:Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
  • Medical Staff Credentialing:Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership andappropriate clinicalprivileges sufficient to perform all required services
