Position Description

Natividad is seeking one (1) full-time Trauma Program Manager within the Trauma Services Department. Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Trauma Program Manager provides leadership and oversight of Natividad Medical Center’s (NMC) Trauma Program, including operations, quality improvement, education, outreach, and regulatory and accreditation requirements. The position coordinates interdisciplinary trauma care and supports the development and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines for adult and pediatric patients. The Trauma Program Manager ensures compliance with NMC policies, California trauma system requirements, and American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT) standards. Responsibilities include maintaining ACS verification readiness, overseeing trauma performance improvement and patient safety activities, supporting trauma registry and data management, and coordinating multidisciplinary trauma committee and outreach activities. The position manages short- and long-term program goals, budgets, program evaluation, and operational improvements while promoting high-quality, evidence-based trauma care. The Trauma Program Manager collaborates with physicians, nursing and hospital leadership, EMS, ancillary services, referring facilities, and community partners to ensure an integrated trauma system. The Trauma Program Manager serves as a clinical and program resource, liaison, and advocate, exercising independent judgment and discretion within established guidelines and scope of practice. The position maintains 24-hour responsibility for trauma program operations, clinical oversight, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance, including ongoing readiness for ACS verification and re-verification. Examples of Duties
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the services of the NMC’s trauma program; reviews and evaluates administrative and nursing procedures; establishes nursing and unit specific standards and initiates changes as needed; confers with management and supervisory staff to discuss on-going program management and patient care issues, including but not limited to the assessment of patients, implementation of doctor’s orders, treatment plans and medical procedures, and record keeping of the same
  • Prepares a variety of reports, correspondence, and memoranda; directs the preparation and maintenance of trauma program records, reports, and statistics in accordance with administrative and nursing policies and The Joint Commission (TJC) and Title 22 regulations
  • Develops, maintains and monitors operating budgets, budget preparation, and short/long range planning for the trauma program
  • Manages as appropriate the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the trauma program; including supervising, training, and evaluating trauma nurse practitioners, nurses, and clinical support staff responsible for trauma program functions
  • Coordinates management of trauma patients across the continuum of trauma care including writing, planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practices as well as management guidelines and monitoring care of in-hospital patients
  • Develops and manages the process for approval of standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols for the management of trauma patients and for other patients and services affected by the trauma program
  • Provides for inter-facility and regional professional staff development, including developing and implementing practice management guidelines with education for staff and direction of community trauma education and prevention programs
