Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum three years of recent hospital nursing experience in Critical Care or Emergency nursing.
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas and current BLS.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and/or Instructor, or Advanced Trauma Life Support Course, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates PIPS activities with the TMD and TPM or TPD to facilitate overall Trauma Program quality assurance.
• Assists the TMD and TPM or TPD with identifying adverse events and implementing subsequent action plans, measurable through patient outcomes and problem resolution.
• Develops and implements clinical and organizational systems that improve trauma service line performance.
• Completes concurrent and retrospective review of cases to meet DSHS standards.
• Enters PI information into the Trauma Registry to ensure documentation supports regulatory standards.
• Tracks and reports quality issues and PI events to improve trauma patient care and outcomes.
