Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services seeks a Main Unit Surgical Technician to expertly handle and sterilize surgical instruments, prepare for procedures, and assist surgeons under RN supervision. You will perform surgical counts, restock supplies, and maintain the operating room's sterile environment in a Tier 2 trauma setting.

This role requires cool-headed decision-making, strong teamwork with surgeons and nurses, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Mastery in handling surgical instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
• Ability to work swiftly in high-pressure trauma environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork with surgeons, RN circulator and nurses.
• Capable of independent work and as part of a surgical team.
• Detail-oriented with adherence to hospital policies and trauma protocols.
• Willingness to participate in trauma call and holiday coverage.

Responsibilities

• Handle and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring sterility.
• Select and arrange supplies, instruments and equipment for procedures.
• Perform surgical counts with RN circulator per policy.
• Assist surgeons during procedures under RN supervision.
• Restock supplies and decontaminate/sterilize instruments for reuse.
• Prepare operating room suite for next use and maintain sterile field.
