Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, is hiring a Trauma Neuro Stepdown Registered Nurse. You will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers across pre- and post-operative stages.

You will advocate for patients, perform prescribed procedures, document care, administer medications, and stay current on relevant cardiac and medical-surgical practices. This role is part of HCA Healthcare's mission to invest in our team.

Qualifications

• RN license required and current in North Carolina.
• ACLS, BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience in stepdown or similar unit.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing is required.
• Ability to coordinate pre- and post-operative patient care with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and during each shift, reporting changes.
• Perform procedures or functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document care in the patient record promptly and accurately.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor responses.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment for cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
