Job summary

McKinley seeks a Treatment Counselor to provide professional child care services in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive manner while serving as a positive role model. The role requires supervision of children, collaboration with the treatment team, and documentation to ensure safety and progress.

The position offers competitive hourly pay ($22.00-$27.00) with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 403(b) match, PTO, holidays, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or equivalent.
• Valid Child Development Teaching Permit or related certification.
• Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education or related field and 100 hours with youth.
• Valid Alcohol Counselor or Drug Counselor certification with 100 hours experience.
• Vocational training credential showing ability to teach trades to youth with 100 hours experience.
• Past employment as staff/volunteer at a group home or STRTP for at least one year.
• CDSS-determined relevant experience meeting listed requirements.
• Proficiency with MS Office and other office software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and protect children at all times within a trauma-informed framework.
• Assist treatment team in developing social, vocational, educational and hygiene skills.
• Record progress and communicate needs to Unit Manager.
• Report problems or recommendations to Facility Managers.
• Collaborate with treatment and CFT to plan activities for children.
• Administer appropriate discipline and safe limits.
• Provide crisis intervention including safe restraints when needed.
• Dispense medications as directed when indicated.
• Engage with families to support treatment outcomes.
• Complete required documentation in a timely, legible manner.
