Job summary

Catholic Charities of Central Washington seeks a Trauma-Informed Teacher Assistant to provide individualized supervision, care, and instruction to children with complex needs. You will help implement support plans, monitor progress, and communicate with program staff.

The role requires two years in early learning, clean background checks, and certifications; employment is funded through 6/30/2027 with potential renewal based on funding.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following as verified in MERIT: High School Diploma and WA ECE Certificate (47 credits) or CDA credential.
• Two years' experience in an Early Learning setting with children birth to five who experienced abuse/neglect.
• Two years' experience identifying and reporting child abuse per WA state laws.
• First Aid/CPR Certification and clear background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Work with Lead Teacher to create a safe and nurturing environment for children's development.
• Assist in modeling appropriate behavior and facilitate social interactions among children.
• Implement educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under supervision.
• Support goals and social skills, follow routines, and participate in activities.
• Communicate with Program Manager and staff regarding behavior plans and safety.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and safety, attend meetings and trainings.
• Report suspected child abuse per mandated reporting protocols.
