Job summary

The Center for Survivors at Michigan State University is seeking a Crisis Counselor to provide timely, compassionate counseling and crisis intervention for survivors of sexual assault, sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, and harassment.

On-site with the therapy team, you will conduct short-term counseling, safety planning, and connect clients with campus and community resources while upholding confidentiality and professional ethics.

Qualifications

• MSW from a school accredited by the CSWE.
• Current State of Michigan LMSW license in good standing or LLMSW with path to full licensure within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis assessment, stabilization, short-term counseling, safety planning.
• Conducts initial appointments and crisis consultations to assess needs and risks.
• Uses trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches to honor survivor choice and promote recovery.
• Connects survivors with reporting, health care, advocacy, campus resources, and community supports.
• Maintains confidential, accurate documentation and adheres to ethical and legal standards.
• Participates in supervision, staff meetings, and professional development.
