Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States in Louisville, KY seeks a Behavioral Health Technician (Children & Adolescents) to provide direct care and therapeutic support in a structured, trauma-informed setting as part of Freedom House – VOA Recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher ed preferred.
• Experience with children, adolescents, or families preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and ensure safety of children and adolescents.
• Implement trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate interventions.
• Facilitate therapeutic, recreational, educational, and life-skills activities.
• Support healthy parent-child interactions through coaching and modeling.
• Assist clinicians with treatment plans and behavioral support plans.
• Observe, document, and communicate behavioral, emotional, and safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate documentation and incident reports.
• Provide transportation as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, safe, nurturing environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and required trainings.
• Collaborate with therapists, nurses, case managers, peer support staff, and community partners.
• Support Performance Quality Improvement activities.
