Job summary

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium seeks an experienced trauma program coordinator to lead clinical nursing services within the trauma department and collaborate with Clinical Core Business Group members.

Under limited supervision, you will drive quality improvement, data collection, trauma education, and ACS site review preparations while partnering with hospital staff to advance patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Alaska RN licensure.
• Ten years of clinical nursing experience, with at least five in trauma.
• Emergency Nurses Association TNCC instructor status required within one year.

Summary

Under limited supervision, coordinates and implements activities that focus on demonstrating the quality and value of operations in the trauma program. Provides collaborative professional clinical nursing services with one or more of the Clinical Core Business Group (CCBG) member departments or programs.

Responsibilities

Participates and supports Quality and Performance Improvement related activities and operations within the trauma program. Assists with process redesign, evaluation, and monitoring performance of trauma care. Assists with overall planning and implementation of trauma related education and programs in a collaborative manner with hospital nursing staff. Provides consultation to physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in meeting patient trauma care needs of individuals or groups of patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings through concurrent patient rounding. Responds to the emergency department for trauma activations occurring during usual hours of work. Collaborates in providing education and training as related to approved trauma clinical guidelines and protocols. Facilitates improvement efforts including process improvement and work redesign for assigned Clinical Core Business Group (CCBG) and multidisciplinary peer review. Actively participates as a member of the Trauma Clinical Core Business Group and the Multidisciplinary Trauma QAI Peer Review team. Assists with the development of multidisciplinary initiatives and plans of care to improve clinical operations and trauma-related programs. Participates in various hospital meetings to improve trauma patient care processes. Collects and analyzes data regarding patient care outcomes, makes recommendations for change, and interfaces with referring facilities to evaluate their needs and assist with the development of their trauma programs. Participates in data collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting of ANMC trauma activities. Assists with maintaining the trauma registry. Consistently supports and actively participates in ongoing preparations for the ACS site review for Level II Trauma Center re-verification. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A Bachelors Degree in Nursing.

Minimum Experience Qualification

Non-supervisory - Ten (10) years of clinical experience with at least five (5) of those ten (10) years in specialized clinical areas related to trauma. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Current Registered Nurse License with the State of Alaska.

Preferred Education Qualification

Masters Degree in Nursing preferred.

Additional Requirements

Emergency Nurses Association TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) instructor status required within one (1) year.
