Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking a Transporter - Per Diem for the 3:00PM - 11:00PM shift. You will transport patients within the facility, discharge patients to lobby areas, and perform cleaning duties to keep hospital areas sanitary.

The role requires adherence to safety procedures, proper use of oxygen equipment, and effective communication with staff and patients. The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, the ability to read/write English, and preferred prior

Responsibilities

• Login to Teletracking.
• Receive assignments and job requirements.
• Pick up patient chart and inform Nursing of transport.
• Complete Transport Communication Sheet.
• Explain method of transport to patients using AIDET.
• Demonstrate safety precautions for patient transport.
• Report patient arrival and obtain required signatures.
• Perform cleaning in vacated patient areas, ensuring linen and bed are in good condition.
• Inspect area for cleaning effectiveness and neatness.
• Be familiar with hazards related to oxygen use and proper storage of oxygen tanks.
• Use oxygen holders when transporting a patient and maintain proper labeling.
• Engage with patients, visitors and staff using AIDET during encounters.
• Promote hospital service standards and positive patient experience.
• Demonstrate competency in the seven-step room cleaning procedure.

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Transporter - Per Diem - Environmental Srvcs-Transport - Per Diem - 3:00PM - 11:00PM Varied Days.

In this role, the successful candidate Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures performs the following, transports patients to and from various locations within the facility and discharges patient to main lobby areas and decedents to the morgue. Performs assigned cleaning tasks in maintaining Hospital areas in an orderly and sanitary condition. In doing so, moves equipment and supplies in assigned area and performs a variety of housekeeping duties.

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive Assignments and job requirements
• Pick up patient chart and inform Nursing of transport.
• Complete Transport Communication Sheet.
• Utilize AIDET Introduce self to patient and explain method of transport and destination.
• Is knowledgeable and can demonstrate safety precautions involving patient transport.
• Upon arrival to destination, report patients' arrival, deliver patient chart to appropriate personnel and obtain required signatures.
• Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient area including bed sanitizing ensuring linen is clean, neat and in excellent condition.
• Visually inspects area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleaning and neatness have been achieved.
• Familiar with possible hazards associated with using oxygen.
• Ensures that oxygen label is correctly displayed and designated medical 02.
• Ensures proper connection prior to initiating the patient transport.
• Familiar with the proper storage of oxygen tanks.
• Uses proper 02 holders when transporting a patient.
• Utilizes AIDET with each patient, visitor and staff encounter.
• Promotes and projects the hospitals service standards in their daily job tasks.
• Promotes a positive patient experience during all patient encounters.
• Demonstrate competencies related to the 7 step room cleaning procedure.
• Provides consistent work performance and meets productivity standards

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency required.

Ability to read and write English in order to verify correct patients assignments and read and interpret labels when preparing cleaning solutions.

Preferred one year on the job experience necessary to learn sanitation principles and techniques, Hospital layout and departmental/Hospital policies and procedures.

Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to patients, visitors and staff when performing transporting and housekeeping assignments.
