Job Summary And Responsibilities

Transport patients to and from requested care areas. Assist patients as necessary during transport. Identify patients' needs and implement appropriate interventions. Provide patient and family support while transporting. Work in cooperation with staff from other patient care areas to facilitate patient care. Display a positive image by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior towards patients, physicians, visitors, volunteers, and other employees.

Essential Functions

• Verifies requisition and patient I.D. bracelet prior to transporting patient to department.
• Transports patients to and from the appropriate care areas using the appropriate method of transportation.
• Maintains the cleanliness of carts, stretchers, wheelchairs and other transportation equipment, and monitors equipment to ensure proper working order.
• Assists staff in the movement of patients from stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds.
• Complies with Hospital/Department/Unit policies.
• Documents activities consistent with Hospital/Department/Unit Guidelines to include keeping accurate logs of patient transport.
• Replenishes supplies used in transporting patients; maintain organized holding area including stretchers, wheelchairs, slide boards, linens, and oxygen tanks.
• Understands process for reporting damaged equipment to Bio-Med (applies red stickers to damaged or broken equipment).
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• High School Graduate or High School GED required upon hire.

Licensure and Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) required upon hire.
