Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to provide essential patient and items transport across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive experience. You will promptly and safely move inpatients and outpatients to various hospital areas, verify patient identifications, greet and assist in transfers, and observe patient condition during transport.

Qualifications

• One year of recent related work experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with cleaning of equipment and department maintenance; may handle oxygen tanks and attach IVs to wheelchairs or gurneys.
• Escorts patient at discharge from room to personal transportation.
• Maintains a safe work and patient environment, following Safety and infection prevention standards.
• Provides client and patient relations.
• Follows department check-in procedures and verifies patient identity and precautions.
• Alerts caregivers to signs of distress or equipment malfunction.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.

Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

• Assists with cleaning of equipment and maintenance of department; may exchange oxygen tanks and/or attach IV’s to wheelchairs or gurneys as necessary.

• Escorts patient at the time of discharge from their room to personal transportation.

• Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.

• Provide Client and Patient Relations.

• Follows hospital department protocols for checking in patients and verifying their identify and following specific precautions identified.

• Alerts caregivers immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.

Pay Range

$19.48 - $28.85 /hour
