Job summary

UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC, is seeking a PRN Transport Assistant to perform patient transport across all areas using the appropriate vehicle. You will coordinate transportation between floors to support patient care and procedures, while monitoring O2, IV, suction, and other needs to ensure safety.

Basic chair and stretcher cleaning, along with clerical tasks, are also part of the role. The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, BCLS within 3 months of hire with

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• BCLS certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire, with recertification every 2 years.
• Capable of learning to utilize patient tracking system software.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient transport duties for all areas of UNC Health SE using appropriate transport vehicle.
• Coordinates and schedules transport between patient floors and various areas to facilitate patient care and procedures.
• Monitors and coordinates with nursing regarding status of oxygen, IV, suction, etc., for safe transport.
• Provides patient comfort and safety during transport; cleans wheelchairs and stretchers as needed.
• Monitors oxygen tanks and stocks as needed to ensure adequate supply for transport.
• Performs basic clerical tasks such as filing and telephone answering.
• Adheres to UNC Health SE rules, regulations, and standards of accrediting bodies.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

BCLS certification within 3 months of hire; recertification every 2 years

NC Certified Nursing Assistant I or EMT Certification

Coordinates and schedules transport as needed between patient floor and areas ofUNC Health SEin order to facilitate patient care and multiple procedures. Monitors and coordinates with nursing regarding status of O2, IV, suction etc. as needed for appropriate and safe care during transport. Provides for patient comfort and safety during transport. Performs basic cleaning of wheelchairs and stretchers. Monitors O2 tanks and stocks as needed to ensure adequate supply for transport. Performs basic clerical functions such as filing and telephone answering. Responsibility to adhere to UNC Health SE rules and regulations of all local, state, and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Incumbent must attain BCLS certification within 3 months of hire; recertification required every 2 years.
• Capable of learning to utilize patient tracking system software.

PREFERRED:

NC Certified Nursing Assistant I or EMT Certification
