Mannik Smith Group in Castle Hayne, NC is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to perform field surveying, construction layout, and inspection tasks for projects around the Raleigh area. While assigned to a home office, most roles report to the field.

Transportation Technicians inspect, measure, sample materials, and document daily activities. AAS in civil eng tech with 2+ yrs experience; 4+ yrs in inspection; valid license; 40 hrs weekly with possible overtime.

Qualifications

High school graduate with 4+ years experience in construction inspection, roadway/bridge preferred.
AAS Civil Engineering Technology degree with 2+ years experience; at least 1 year roadway inspection.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues self-study course and submit the Certification of Course Completion form.
Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with possible overtime (Hourly).
Ability to work in a team environment.
Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Material sampling and testing.
Assist with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
Measure distances to verify dimensions of construction activity/layout.

Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
Record quantities of materials received or used.

Compensation: $26.00 - $38.00 / hour

Description

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our group around the Raleigh area. *While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project.

Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.

KSA’s:

Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.
Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.

What you'll need

High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.
Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed to perform your assigned task.
