Job summary

Recovery Centers of America is seeking a Transportation Support Specialist to safely transport patients to medical appointments and treatments. You will also assist with patient care activities to ensure safety, support, and on-schedule movements within RCA facilities.

The role requires a valid driver\'s license, acceptable MVR, CPR certification, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organizational skills and technology proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver\'s license and clean MVR.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a driver/transportation specialist preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred or maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients and/or staff.
  • Performs and documents daily vehicle inspections.
  • Performs patient belongings processing for admissions and visitation items.
  • Monitors patient activities and completes documentation (rounds, incident reports).
  • Manage high-risk or re-engagement incidents.
  • Communicate with program leadership on safety and transportation issues.
  • Communicate with inter-disciplinary departments on admissions, discharges, transfers.
  • Perform other duties when transportation needs are low.
  • May transport medical equipment including medication.

Salary

Salary: $16/hour

Schedule: As needed basis. Must be able to complete 10 hour round trip transports.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Transportation Support Specialist to safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, treatments, and other destinations. You’ll also help with patient care activities, making sure they’re safe, supported, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transports patients and/or staff
  • Performs and documents daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety
  • Performs all aspects of patient belongings processing for new admissions and visitation items, including search, inspection, sanitization (heat treatment), and delivery
  • Monitors patient activities, provides security checks, completes documentation to include but not limited to, rounds sheet, Incident reports, records patient behavior
  • Manage high-risk or re-engagement incidents
  • Communicates with program leadership/administrator on-call any identified needs regarding safety, vehicle and/or transportation issues
  • Communicates with inter-disciplinary departments regarding new admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Performs other assigned duties when patient transportation needs are low
  • May be responsible for transporting medical equipment to include but not limited to medication

Skills And Education
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Acceptable MVR
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a driver/transportation support specialist preferred
  • 6 months experience in health and human service-related field preferred
  • Maintains CPR certification
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
  • Proficiency with all technology hardware, systems and tools required to perform duties; training will be provided as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

May work in a variety of environments including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. They spend much of their time seated in a motorized vehicle and on their feet, actively working with patients. Noise level is moderate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out‑of‑the‑area and overnight travel may be expected

This position requires the use of a personal smartphone or similar mobile device to perform essential job functions, including the installation and use of employer-designated applications necessary for business operations. Use of a personal device for work purposes must comply with Company policies regarding security, confidentiality, and acceptable use.

  • A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at locations within RCA other than where they were treated within a year after treatment.
