Job summary

Core-Mark International in Portland, OR is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to manage day-to-day operations, ensure timely deliveries, and lead a team of drivers while maintaining DOT compliance.

You will monitor fleet performance, optimize routes, and collaborate with the Transportation/Operations Manager to control costs and improve service.

The role requires 2+ years in transportation, a valid CDL-A, and experience supervising 10–15 drivers; travel to remote depots is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid Interstate Class A CDL.
• 2+ years transportation experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, and operation of computerized fleet management systems.
• 1+ years leading and supervising a team of 10-15 drivers.

Responsibilities

• Supervises associates including staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution; assists in scheduling and ensuring deliveries and pickups are timely.
• Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, including driver payroll, trip logs, and expense reports.
• Ensure drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, ramps, handcarts, seat belts and product handling; may attend quarterly safety meetings.
• Coordinates tracking of driver license status, tickets, accidents and other risk and safety-related data.
• Ensures accurate completion of delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, and DVIRs.
• Maintains trucks, tractors and trailers through post-trip inspections and routine maintenance coordination.
• Works with the manager to minimize operating expenses and optimize routing for deliveries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Details:

• Work: This is an onsite position, reporting into the Portland OpCo {17225 SE 120th Avenue, Clackamas, OR 97015}
• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, normal business hours (on average 50-55 hours per week)
  • Subject to change based on business needs
• Travel: Quarterly visits to remote depots, located in Tacoma, Redmond, Euguene & Grants Pass
  • Will be required to drive out to delivery routes on occasion to conduct driver observations
• Compensation: $75k-$85k base salary, depending on experience, plus bonus potential based on KPIs!!!
  • Additional comp includes quarterly incentive of 2.5% of annual salary
    

Position Summary:

As the Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of goods, maintaining compliance with regulations and supervision and training of drivers for the OpCo. You will lead a team of drivers, monitor the Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance and fleet performance, and execute strategies to optimize transportation efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of transportation logistics, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Assist in the day-to-day operations when needed.

Position Responsibilities:

• Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Assists in scheduling as well as ensuring deliveries and pickups are made in a timely manner. Rides with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes.
• Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with overall day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may include calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring that drivers are compliant with DOT and OpCo regulations. Operates computer keyboard to enter and access data in an automated fleet management system.
• Ensure drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices. May attend quarterly safety meetings.
• Coordinates tracking of all relevant information on drivers, such as license status, traffic tickets, accidents and other risk and safety-related data.
• Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, collection register, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files and accident reporting.
• Ensures maintenance of all trucks, tractors and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections.
• Works in conjunction with Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and to ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• 2+ years transportation or related experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems.
• 1+ years of experience leading and supervising a team of 10-15 drivers.
• Must have a valid Interstate Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDLA) and experience driving commercial vehicles is required.
