Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for the Transportation department in the Arlington, VA office. As an intern, you will assist in the design and inspection of various highway structures.

This position is expected to begin Summer 2027 and offers hands-on experience in engineering within a global firm. Interns gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, learn industry best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals, developing technical and professional

Qualifications

Completed courses related to statics, strength of materials, introductory steel design, and introductory reinforced concrete design.
Ability to follow procedures and pay attention to detail.
Good written and oral communications skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
Prepare engineering related calculations.
Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
