Job summary

The Center at Donaldson seeks a Transportation Services Support Specialist to provide safe transportation for Sisters and residents and perform related errands as requested. The role focuses on courteous, reliable service and adherence to safety guidelines in daily operations.

You will transport residents by wheelchair, run errands, assist with vehicle upkeep, and support the Transportation Services team in scheduling and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Valid driver s license required.
• Defensive driving continuing education course is required or offered by our insurance provider.

Responsibilities

• Transport Sisters and Residents by wheelchair to appointments, hospital visits, shopping or social outings.
• Run errands and pick up supplies as requested.
• Lift and move boxes, furniture and personal items up to 50 lbs.
• Provide courier services for ministries and departments as needed.
• Maintain courteous, hospitable service and a positive attitude.
• Assist Transportation Services Technician with fueling and vehicle maintenance checks.
• Assist with recycling program by delivering reusable materials.

Job Summary: To provide the highest quality, safe transportation for the Sisters and residents of The Center at Donaldson as well as perform other errandsandduties as requested.

• Carefully transport Sisters and Residents [not in life threatening situations] by wheelchair to appointments, the hospital, shopping or social outings.
• Run errands and pick up supplies as requested and assigned.
• Lifting boxes, furniture, and personal items such as, but not limited to, luggage, shopping bags and packages for Sisters, and Maria Center residents using transportation services and at other times as assigned.
• Provide currier services for ministries and departments as requested and schedule that fit into daily runs.
• Providing quality service in a courteous, friendly and hospitable manner.
• Assist the Transportation Services Technician by filling the vehicles with gasoline as requested and assigned.
• Maintain a positive and thoughtful attitude and demeanor when transporting Sisters and residents.
• Willing to be flexible as unscheduled requests arise and adaptable to whatever the need may be when possible.
• Assist with The Center at Donaldson recycling program by collecting and delivering any re-useable materials to the recycling area.
• Assist the Transportation Services Technician by keeping all vehicles clean and presentable and by reporting any identified problems and/or malfunctions of vehicles.
• Assure that the established quality expectations are achieved.
• Coordinate with the Transportation Services scheduler to provide efficient transportation services in a punctual and safe manner.
• Help to keep all vehicles snow and ice-free in the winter months.

SPECIFICATIONS

Prior Education and Training:

• Valid Driver’s License - required
• Defensive Driving Continuing Education – [Through our Insurance Company online]

Prior Work Experience/Skills Required:

• Capable of large city, heavy traffic driving.
• Pleasant personality and calm demeanor.
• Appropriate driving experience.

Orientation Required:

• One to three months familiarity with area
• Completion of new Co-Worker orientation.

Environmental conditions:

• Job requires sustained mental attention and physical exertion related to driving.
• May be required to drive in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions.
• Work hours may, on occasion, be irregular to include, but not be limited to, short notice, weekends, holidays and evenings.
• Must be available to work in a weekend and Holiday rotation as well as a weekly "on call" rotation as set forth by the Manager of the Transportation Department.
• Position requires frequent sitting as well as occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and pushing/pulling.
• Position requires occasional pushing/pulling of over 300 lbs. and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
