Job summary

Tucson Unified School District seeks a Transportation Planner to develop and optimize bus routes and schedules for safety and efficiency across all TUSD schools. The candidate will analyze routing data, revise plans, and align services with district policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate routes, collaborating with transportation staff, and ensuring timely service for qualified students.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 college credits in logistics, business, or related field.
• Three years of experience with spreadsheet and word processing.
• Three years experience as a Router in transportation.
• English reading, writing and comprehension required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Associates Degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field OR Two years of college (60 credit hours) coursework in a related field OR Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience utilizing computerized Transportation Routing Software systems
• Three (3) years of experience utilizing spreadsheet and word processing applications
• Three (3) years experience as a Router in a transportation related field
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• FBI fingerprint background check
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• Must submit to a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol screen

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated knowledge of the Tucson Metropolitan area, to include Pima County
• Two (2) years experience utilizing computerized routing software application
• Knowledge of route planning and scheduling practices and procedures

COMMENTS

Location:Transportation - Broadway & Kino Parkway Area

Classification:Supervisory/Professional – Grade: 11

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day

Work Calendar: 12 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
