Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Orlando seeks a Transportation Project Manager to lead roadway design teams for projects locally and across the nation. You will manage all aspects of projects from business development to staffing, design development, oversight, quality, and financial performance.

Applicants should have a Florida PE or be able to obtain within six months, plus 7+ years in roadway design and project management for municipal/DOT clients. Travel up to 50% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related degree, from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience.
  • Florida licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Knowledge of transportation design guides including the AASHTO Greenbook, the Roadside Design Guide, and MUTCD.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Past roadway design and project management experience for municipal and DOT clients.
  • Experience managing alternative deliver projects and major interstate projects a plus.
  • Client contacts with FDOT, Expressways and/or municipalities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
  • Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians to design and manage the roadway and site development projects including geometric design of roadways & interchanges, drainage design, utility coordination, and traffic control plan development.
  • Client development, maintenance, and management; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; and the establishment of critical project objectives and performances.

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to join our rapidly growing Transportation Practice. Our ideal candidate will be someone with excellent client interaction skills who can design, manage, and lead roadway design teams for projects both locally and across the nation from our Orlando office.

In this position, you will be a key part of a seller/doer team and you will manage all aspects of projects from business development, scope and fee development, staffing plan development, design development, project oversight, quality management and financial performance responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.

  • Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians to design and manage the roadway and site development projects including geometric design of roadways & interchanges, drainage design, utility coordination, and traffic control plan development.
