What We're Looking For

Are you ready to make a significant impact on fast-paced infrastructure projects? HNTB is seeking a passionate Transportation Project Manager I to lead our project teams. In this role, you'll manage budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual obligations, ensuring top performance and client satisfaction. Join a team committed to delivering quality work on time, within budget, and exceeding client expectations. Your expertise will contribute to solving complex transportation engineering challenges.

What You'll Do:

  1. Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  2. Serve as the primary client liaison; manage project teams to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets; assist with client scoping and contract negotiations.
  3. Perform technical tasks including analysis, reporting, design, and specifications for assigned projects.
  4. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA); lead project management plan development and execution; supervise and mentor team members.
  5. Coordinate with managers on staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and performance reviews.
  6. Collaborate with Client Service Leaders on business development, building client relationships, and pursuing strategic projects; lead proposal development and presentations.
  7. May oversee staff recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
  2. At least 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  1. Collaborating across disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
  2. Leading design teams on complex infrastructure projects with construction values of $100M to $2.5B.
  3. Supervising, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
  4. Engaging throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-award, post-award, and construction phases.
  5. Travel to project sites as required.
  6. Managing staff, proposals, budgets, and quality control for projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Experience managing Design-Build projects.
  2. Master’s degree in Engineering.
  3. 10 years of relevant experience.
  4. Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  5. Experience in collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environments.

Pay ranges vary by location, e.g., for New York: $123,854.48 - $242,151.39; for Los Angeles: $142,432.65 - $222,779.29. Actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and location.
