Job summary

Tighe & Bond is seeking a Project Manager to join our Transportation team in Manchester, NH. You will lead planning, design, and execution of roadway projects, serving as the primary client liaison and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will oversee budgets, schedules, and resources while providing technical direction on roadway geometry, drainage, and traffic elements. A PE license and 10+ years in transportation engineering are required, with a hybrid work environment offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering, with emphasis on roadway design.
  • Demonstrated success in project management, including team coordination, budget management, and client communication.
  • Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT standards, environmental permitting, and transportation funding mechanisms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of roadway design projects including new construction, rehabilitation, and corridor improvements.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Oversee and manage project budgets, scopes, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to engineers and designers on roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic-related elements; Prepare and review engineering reports, design calculations, PS&E packages, and permit applications.
  • Ensure project compliance with AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA, and local/state DOT standards.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities, state agencies, and utilities.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, supporting their technical and professional growth.
  • Support business development activities including proposal writing, interviews, and client presentations.

Responsibilities, Requirements, And Total Rewards
What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Need

  • Experience with design-build projects or municipal roadways
  • Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ITE, APWA, etc.).
