Job summary

KPFF Seattle’s Transportation Team seeks a Transportation Project Engineer with a minimum of four years of experience to support full lifecycle engineering projects—from planning through construction. Candidates will work with project managers and multidisciplinary teams on corridor design, ADA upgrades, and multimodal improvements.

Located in downtown Seattle, this role emphasizes collaboration with public agencies and clients, delivering practical, compliant engineering solutions on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in civil/transportation design.
  • AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation familiarity.
  • Experience/ability to prepare roadway/transportation design documents and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to diverse projects, collaborating with teams.
  • Prepare design plans, reports, cost estimates, and analyses for multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including permits.
  • Advance AutoCAD Civil3D modeling skills.
  • Assist in managing project tasks, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Foster strong client relationships with clear communication and tailored solutions.

Job Description

KPFF Seattle’s Transportation Team focuses on designing infrastructure that moves people and connects communities across the region. We work on a wide range of transit and transportation projects, including roadway and trail improvements, fish passage enhancements, and major infrastructure efforts throughout the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest. Our projects are Community-Focusedand emphasize pedestrian and bicycle safety, multimodal accessibility, ADAcompliance,and context-sensitive solutions shaped by thecommunity'sneeds. We collaborate closely with public agencies, transit authorities, contractors, and fellow engineers to deliver thoughtful solutions that improve mobilityand public infrastructure.

Located in downtown Seattle, ourTransportation Engineeringteam is seeking aTransportation Project Engineer with aminimum of4years' experience.In this roleyou will support the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from early pursuits and proposal support through planning, design, permitting, and construction. You will work closely with Project Managers, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams to help ensure projects meet technical expectationsand schedule milestones. You will contribute to corridor design, transit speed and reliability improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, ADA upgrades, utilityand stormwater designsin our region.

Responsibilities:

  • Applyengineering principlesto diverse projects, collaborating with teams to developproject specificsolutions drawing on best practices in areas such as street improvements, transportation infrastructure, utility projects,and stormwater design.
  • Prepare design plans, reports, cost estimates, and technical analyses as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Gain experience in ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Continue to advanceAutoCadCivil 3Dmodelingskills.
  • Assistin managing project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions that align with theirobjectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in relevant civil/transportation design
  • AutoCAD Civil3Dand/orMicrostationfamiliarity
  • Experience and ability to prepare roadway/transportation design documents and specifications isrequired
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.
Additional Information

Physical Demands:

  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $105,000 - $125,000
