Job summary

Interfaith Caregivers of Washington County seeks a Transportation Program Manager to oversee scheduling and daily operations, serving as the main contact for volunteer drivers and partners. You will ensure reliable, mission-driven transportation services and foster strong relationships with clients, caregivers, and community partners.

This full-time role reports to the Executive Director and requires attention to detail, problem solving, and a passion for helping older adults stay connected.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • High attention to detail required.
  • Experience in transportation coordination, scheduling, logistics, or volunteer management a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for transportation-related inquiries from clients, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Coordinate transportation requests and schedule volunteer drivers to meet service demands.
  • Proactively communicate with volunteer drivers to fill transportation requests and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Maintain accurate schedules, driver availability records, transportation data, and documentation using Assisted Rides software.
  • Coordinate recurring transportation services, including dialysis, home-delivered meals, and other scheduled routes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted resource for volunteer drivers.
  • Foster a welcoming, volunteer-centered culture that promotes volunteer satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Interfaith’s fleet, accessibility equipment, and vehicle safety features.
  • Provide vehicle guidance and troubleshooting assistance to volunteer drivers.
  • Conduct wheelchair transportation training and other required driver training programs including orientations, ride-alongs, and refresher trainings.
  • Partner with the Volunteer Director to develop and implement volunteer driver recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Represent Interfaith at recruitment events and serve as an ambassador for volunteer service and the Transportation Program.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and supply inventories.
  • Maintain vehicle records and ensure compliance with registration, insurance, inspection, safety, and grant requirements.
  • Manage fleet documentation, fuel reporting, and transportation-related reporting.
  • Coordinate countywide vehicle placement and utilization to meet service demands.
  • Assist with fleet planning, budget monitoring, and future transportation service needs.
  • Manage the organization’s main phone line and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Ensure volunteer hours and transportation data are accurately recorded.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, volunteer events, fundraising events, and community activities as needed.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Interfaith’s mission and transportation services.

Job description

Purpose: The Transportation Program Manager plays a vital role in helping older adults remain independent and connected to their communities. This position oversees the scheduling and daily operations of Interfaith’s Transportation Program, serves as the primary point of contact for volunteer drivers, and ensures transportation services are responsive, reliable, and mission-driven.

The Transportation Program Manager builds meaningful relationships with older adults, caregivers, volunteers, healthcare providers, and community partners. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and enjoys problem solving, relationship building, and making a direct impact in the lives of others.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transportation Operations & Scheduling
  • Serve as the primary contact for transportation-related inquiries from clients, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Coordinate transportation requests and schedule volunteer drivers to meet service demands.

Physical Requirements
  • Position requires sitting for extended periods of time. Staff may also need to stand, walk, reach with arms and legs, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employees must be comfortable speaking on the phone and answering incoming calls, as well as returning voicemail messages, so accurate hearing is required.
  • Ability to lift and comfortable carry up to 25 lbs.
Salary & Benefits

Salary begins at $62,000 is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, 401k, and PTO.
