Job summary

The Illinois Tollway is seeking a Policy and Planning Analyst I to assist in implementing capital programs such as Move Illinois, Bridging the Future, and Driving Connections. You will help develop the department budget, track performance metrics, and analyze planning data to inform decisions.

You will report to the Chief of Planning and collaborate with Engineering and other departments to advance Tollway initiatives and ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, organizational and analytical skills are necessary in the performance of duties.
• Detail-oriented with ability to see issues in a broader organizational context.
• Minimum of two years of experience in planning or civil engineering.
• Performance will be evaluated on coordination, analysis, recommendation and forecasting aiding planning decisions.

Responsibilities

• Review projects slated for initiation as part of the capital planning implementation process.
• Support the Chief of Planning and Deputy Chief of Planning in research of existing plans.
• Participate in implementation of the Tollway’s Strategic Plan, specifically initiatives assigned to Planning/Engineering.
• Collect and analyze data related to projects and ad-hoc requests.
• Support the preparation of the department budget including development of goals and budget oversight.
• Analyze safety data and provide recommendations for safety improvements.
• Collaborate with other departments ensuring they are aware of Planning initiatives.
• Review departmental policies and draft updates as necessary.
• Support agency-wide initiatives and requests on behalf of the Planning Department.
