Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Planning Project Manager to join our North Carolina team. The role supports transportation planning across NC offices, leading projects from initiation through completion with a focus on safely moving people and goods.

Responsibilities include managing budgets and schedules, mentoring staff, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 7 years related experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience.
  • Ability to interact with various design teams; strong organizational, project management and communication skills.
  • Active participant in employee-owners culture.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of the transportation planning section.
  • Provide technical expertise at project level and assist growth of planning/program through client relationships and opportunities.
  • Take responsibility for project and staff management, plus marketing, business development and client management.
  • Establish sequencing of environmental tasks/projects from financial management to successful completion.
  • Plan and direct medium- to large-sized environmental/planning tasks/projects for core groups.
  • Prepare, plan and analyze NEPA/SEPA documents and similar reports.
  • Accomplish work independently and with coordinating teams from local and regional offices.
  • Support regional and national projects in areas of technical expertise and public participation.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules and quality of products.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
