Job summary

SEH is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join our West Region Transportation Practice Center. This is a full-time role with remote-work eligibility, supporting multi-modal planning for clients in Colorado, Arizona, and beyond.

You will conceptualize transportation projects, conduct studies, prepare environmental documents, and interact with clients and agencies. A bachelor’s degree in planning or civil engineering and 2+ years of consulting experience are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of consulting and/or public sector experience in transportation planning
  • Understanding of Federal and State of Colorado local agency project requirements
  • Experience working with cities and counties throughout the State of Colorado.
  • Previous experience conducting studies and analyses
  • Previous experience with the design and implementation of public involvement efforts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections/visits, etc. Occasional overnight travel may be required

This Opportunity

We have an immediate Full‑Time opportunity for a Senior Transportation Planner for someone who wants to be part of a team that provides exceptional service to our clients. This position would report into the Transportation Practice Center in our West Region. This person is eligible to work from home. Together we are working on innovative multi modal transportation planning and design projects for our clients in Colorado, Arizona, and beyond.

Responsibilities May Include
  • Conceptual design of transportation and multi modal projects
  • Environmental documentation
  • Conducting transportation planning studies, and corridor studies
  • State Environmental Assessment Worksheets and Federal Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements
  • Prepare draft and final corridor studies, access control plans, project reports, and technical memos
  • Assist in marketing all types of transportation and municipal planning consulting projects
  • Interact with clients on behalf of the company on projects including project meetings, public meetings and workshops
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of consulting and/or public sector experience in transportation planning
  • Understanding of Federal and State of Colorado local agency project requirements
  • Experience working with cities and counties throughout the State of Colorado.
  • Previous experience conducting studies and analyses
  • Previous experience with the design and implementation of public involvement efforts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on‑site inspections/visits, etc. Occasional overnight travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten plus (10+) years of experience in general planning; bike trails, roads, etc.
  • Certified Planner (AICP) or Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado or the ability to obtain registration within one year of employment
  • Previous experience with multi-modal studies and analysis including bicycle and pedestrian plans
  • Knowledge of the regional transportation planning/funding process and Federal/regional/local agency roles and interrelationships
