Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a Transportation Manager to direct daily operations across shipping, safety, and backhaul profitability. You’ll analyze routing, ensure DOT compliance, manage staffing, and drive cost-effective sourcing while delivering strong customer service.

Ideal candidates bring supervisory experience in transportation, knowledge of DOT/OSHA rules, and strong budgeting skills to support company growth and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education - High school diploma or GED. Coursework or related experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in transportation preferred; management experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and general transportation regulations.
  • Hours of Service knowledge and compliance expectations.
  • Ability to understand and manage budgets with accuracy.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of team member and company information.

Supported by college coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred Supervisory experience preferably in a transportation environment, management experience a plusSkills & Qualifications: Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and general transportation regulations Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred Basic knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service Ability to understand and manage budgets Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling Proficient in computer usage to include email, word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, data compilation, data analyses, TMW Systems Accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication skill, both verbal and written Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidaysPhysical Demands: Independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs rarely Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a normal office environment Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a refrigerated warehouse environment Able to step up onto and down from truck multiple times per day Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit Ability to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without corrective lenses Ability to occasionally work in a noisy warehouse environment Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such gloves, insulated clothing, etc) Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.) Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, etc.)In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position.
