What You’ll Do

• Accountable for the safe, effective, and efficient execution of the branch transportation operation.
• Deliver the assigned annual operating plan and cost‑saving objectives.
• Develop and manage after‑hours transportation support for the branch location.
• Execute retention and recruiting strategies for private‑fleet drivers within the branch.
• Manage and develop Transportation Supervisors and Dispatchers.
• Disciplinary and coaching of Transportation employees at the branch.
• Submit accurate hourly payroll weekly.
• Collectively bargain Transportation drivers at unionized sites, if applicable.
• Maintain an efficient cost‑advantaged private fleet, maximize DOT HOS, and optimize route plans.
• Coach safe and efficient driving techniques and ensure safety, regulatory, and DOT compliance.
• Develop effective relationships with internal business partners.
• Manage lane‑level sourcing of Private, Common, and Dedicated fleets.
• Interface and direct Common carriers on issues and improvements.
• Implement strategies for on‑time delivery performance.
• Ensure compliance to established route guides.
• Maintain capacity sufficient to support a 20% surge in volume with private, common, or dedicated carriers.
• Ensure carrier execution against transportation requirements, meeting customer needs.
• Collaborate with other Regional DTMs for dedicated capacity requirements.
• Provide guidance to Transportation Supervisors and Dispatchers on asset utilization.
• Focus on asset optimization, fuel economy, DOT HOS, payload efficiency, and route optimization.
• Deliver transportation service targets and on‑time shipment of loads.
• Implement capital replacement plans for all private‑fleet assets within the branch.
• Support the annual procurement bid and bid readiness.
• Develop the right carrier portfolio to ensure adequate capacity at cost targets.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor's Degree, required.
• Master's Degree, preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of logistics/Transportation/supply‑chain experience.
• Experience in HAZMAT and tanker transportation operations strongly desired.
• Preferred prior experience in distribution environment.
• Multi‑modal transportation experience (TL, LTL, legal, regulatory, operational, customer service, logistics, carrier operations).
• Multi‑year experience managing private fleets with demonstrated efficiency.
• Experience managing direct and indirect reports.
• Budgeting (P&L) experience.
• Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; influence across functions.
• Drive for results, sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize and resolve conflicts.
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
• Ability to lead and manage process and organizational change.
• Highly effective collaboration across operations, transportation planning, and commercial.
• Detailed operational and tactical knowledge of private‑fleet efficiencies with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong fleet dispatching experience.
