Job description

Livingston Public Schools is seeking an experienced, organized, and collaborative TransportationManager to oversee all aspects of the district's transportation program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other district-sponsored activities. Responsibilities include route planning, staff supervision, fleet oversight, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and serving as the primary liaison with families, school administrators, and transportation personnel.

Qualified candidates should have experience managing a school transportation operation, including routing, budgeting, fleet maintenance, personnel supervision, and compliance with state transportation regulations. Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills are essential. Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements is strongly preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position include planning and administering the district's transportation program; supervising transportation personnel; developing bus routes and schedules; overseeing fleet maintenance and safety programs; preparing budgets and required state and federal reports; responding to transportation concerns and emergencies; and communicating effectively with students, families, staff, contractors, and community members.

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. The position requires the ability to travel between district locations, inspect school buses and transportation facilities, and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically, and possess sufficient visual acuity to review documents, inspect vehicles, and utilize computer systems.
