Job summary

Oldcastle APG, part of CRH, seeks a Transportation Manager to lead day-to-day transportation operations across our locations and customers. You will oversee a private fleet and hired carriers, drive improvements in service, safety, and cost, and coordinate with multiple business units to deliver best-in-class transportation services.

• Minimum four-year degree in business or related field
• 5+ years' experience in transportation field; experience with transportation management software

Responsibilities

• Strategic logistical planning for all locations
• Manage a team of logistics coordinators, fleet managers, and CDL drivers
• Ensure DOT regulatory compliance for fleet and staff
• Hiring, performance management, coaching, and discipline for transportation team
• Monitor service performance (On-Time Delivery)
• Ensure compliance with DOT and company policies
• Maintain driver qualification files and conduct road tests
• Audit driver logs for hours-of-service compliance
• Oversee scheduling to ensure DOT hours compliance
• Coordinate insurance claims involving company drivers/vehicles
• Provide capex recommendations for vehicle purchases
• Oversee maintenance program for company vehicles
• Review vendors to reduce costs and improve fleet efficiency
• Work with sites to enhance transportation productivity
• Recruit and negotiate rates with core carriers
• Monitor carrier responsiveness and adherence to budgets/agreements
• Implement transportation policies and regulatory updates
• Provide KPI reports to management
• Handle other duties as needed

Job Summary

The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of transportation servicing our locations and customers. The transportation network includes both private fleet and hired haul operations. Customers include national home improvement retailers, building product dealers, and contractor jobsites. This position will have team members who are optimizing and planning shipments as well as fleet managers running the company private fleet.

The Transportation Manager will be expected to implement strategy to improve customer service, maintain world-class safety levels, ensure compliance with regulations, drive continuous improvement, and reduce costs. This position will interact with multiple business units and departments under Oldcastle APG to deliver best in class transportation services.

This is an onsite role based out of our site in Morristown, TN.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for strategic logistical planning for all locations
• Managea teamof logistics coordinators, fleet manager,andclass A CDL driversacrossthe network.
• Ensures that Fleet Managers and Drivers are trained and remain in compliance with DOT regulations
• Makes hiring decisions, manages performance, provides coaching and issues disciplinefor transportation team
• Responsible for service performance (On Time Delivery)
• Ensure compliance with all DOT and Company policies and procedures
• Ensuredriver qualification files are maintained including driver road tests
• Audit driver logs to ensure drivers are compliant with hours-of-service regulations
• Managescheduling department to ensure company driver routescomplywith DOT hours
• Company contact for insurance claims,follow-up,etc. when the claims involve company drivers' or company lease vehicles
• PerformLease/Buy decisions onequipmentand provide recommendationsincluding specifications
• Oversee maintenance program for company vehicles. Make recommendations for future Capex purchases.
• Review current vendors and seek new vendors to help reduce costs and increase fleet efficiency
• Working with site locations to refine and improve processes to increasetransportationproductivity
• Recruit and negotiate rates withcorecarriers as needed
• Ensurecarriers are responding to the daily customer service requirements and are operating within established budget guidelines and contractual agreements
• Implement transportation related company policy and programs and keep current on government rules and regulations, reporting when necessary to management team
• Provide reporting on key KPI metrics to management
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Job Requirements
