Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor in Abingdon, VA to oversee the rolling fleet maintenance program, plan priorities, and ensure safe operations while meeting dispatch obligations. You will lead a maintenance team, manage vendor relationships and parts inventory, and enforce DOT-compliant manuals and procedures.

A High school diploma, MIG/TIG welding training, and airbrake/air conditioning/SCR engine training are required; CDL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and plan maintenance activities for the rolling fleet.

  • Review expenses to ensure inventory and parts stay within budget.
  • Develop and maintain manuals and DOT-compliant procedures.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance to meet dispatch obligations.
  • Ensure work orders are accurate and properly billed.

Transportation Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Transportation Maintenance Supervisor As the Transportation Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for oversight and planning direct or indirect maintenance activities for the rolling fleet for Arcwood Transport.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Develops and manages a safe and productive workplace for respective Arcwood Transport or sub-contracted garage(s)
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors; orders supplies and maintains parts inventory
  • Reviews and approves all expenses related to inventories to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained within budget; refers expenses to Manager as appropriate
  • Reviews and/or writes manuals for maintenance activities, and develops files in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Plans, schedules, and establishes priorities / deadlines to ensure completion of maintenance activities in a safe environment, while meeting all dispatch obligations
  • Ensures all work orders are accurate, appropriate parts are billed, and are closed out for end-of-month reporting
  • Interviews, hires, trains, provides direction, and conducts performance evaluations for maintenance team members; establishes required shop hours accordingly
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Completion of formal MIG/TIG welding training (required)
  • Completion of formal training in airbrake assembly/repair, air conditioning and SCR engines (required)
  • CDL license (preferred)
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance within the transportation industry (required)
  • Previous supervisory experience (preferred)
