Job summary

State of Tennessee is seeking an Estimating Engineer in the Department of Transportation, located in Nashville. This role supports TDOT's construction estimating processes and collaborates with project teams, divisions, and external partners to deliver accurate cost estimates.

The incumbent provides technical assistance, training, and cost data to monitor scope, schedule, and budgets, with a focus on QA and adopting new estimating software like AASHTOWare Estimate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Active status as a professional engineer in Tennessee.
• At least 4 years of demonstrated competency in developing/construction transportation estimates.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers in managing external partners and contract aspects.
• Integrate Quality Management into estimating products and deliverables.
• Develop preliminary and final construction estimates across project life cycle.
• Deliver estimating training and mentor staff; manage TDOT estimating program/software.
• Communicate clearly with internal/external stakeholders and document work thoroughly.
• Stay current on market pricing and TDOT/industry practices for estimating.
• Prepare cost estimates to evaluate bids for contract awards or rejections.
