Job summary

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with Bentley or Autodesk software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and GIS preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Team oriented, able to work with supervision and adapt to project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of transportation infrastructure, including roadways, drainage, signing, and pavement markings.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, reports, memoranda, and specifications.
  • Perform transportation design calculations, modeling, and quantity take-offs.
  • Participate in field investigations, tests, measurements, and site inspections; collect data.
  • Contact vendors for budget quotes and assist in developing cost estimates.
  • Support permitting, regulatory compliance, and project scheduling efforts.
  • Review design drawings for accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Utilize engineering software and MS Office tools to support tasks.
  • Take on additional responsibilities to help the team achieve goals.

Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team in Tallahassee, FL.

Primary Function:

Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will support engineering assignments that contribute to a wide range of meaningful transportation projects that support municipalities and public agencies. This internship is designed to give you exposure to real-world engineering work, build your technical skills, and help you explore a future career in the civil engineering industry.

Primary Duties:
  • Assist in the design and analysis of transportation infrastructure, including roadway, drainage, signing and pavement markings, and other related transportation systems.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, reports, technical memoranda, and specifications.
  • Conduct transportation design and modeling, engineering calculations, and material quantity take-offs.
  • Participate in field investigations, field tests, measurements, and site inspections; collect and process field data.
  • Contact vendors to obtain budgetary quotes and assist in developing construction cost estimates.
  • Support permitting, regulatory compliance documentation, and project scheduling efforts.
  • Review design drawings within defined limits for accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Utilize various engineering software tools, Microsoft Office applications, and design programs to support project tasks
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and organization’s goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, standard procedures, and commonly used software tools to support project tasks and documentation.
  • Skills in organizing data, technical writing, and problem solving to contribute to project deliverables.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and reliability, learn new engineering processes, and collaborate effectively with project teams under close supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
  • Time management.
Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with Bentley or Autodesk software, such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and GIS preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work with a team of professionals and independently
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Bluebeam and Outlook

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Work is generally conducted in a standard office administrative setting with limited exposure to physical hazards. This role involves minimal to moderate physical activity, including handling items weighing up to 20 pounds. It may require occasional standing or walking but primarily focuses on working at a keyboard, workstation, or desk.
