Job summary

Dewberry is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Transportation Group in the Owings Mills, MD office. This internship offers hands-on project experience, working on horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, and traffic schemes.

You will collaborate with a team of professionals, applying the latest technology to client projects and expanding your professional skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering (Emphasis in Transportation) is required
• Previous Transportation focused internship experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience using CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD)
• Proficiency in MS Office software
• Desire to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

• The intern will support transportation design projects, including horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage, and stormwater management
• Assist with erosion/sediment control and development of maintenance/traffic schemes
• Assist in preparing contract plans for various project types and clients

The individual will work as part of a team in all facets of transportation engineering including design of horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage systems, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, development of maintenance and protection of traffic schemes, and preparation of contract plans for a variety of project types and clients.

Salary Range

$18.75/hour - $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

• Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
