Job summary

Benesch is seeking a Transportation and Highway Design intern for summer 2026 to contribute to highway and roadway design projects, traffic analysis, and plan preparation. You will work with experienced professionals across our Milwaukee, Madison, and Neenah locations, gaining hands-on experience in engineering design software and collaborative project delivery.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in Civil Engineering, with familiarity in MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D (Geopak or 3D Modeling experience a plus, but not required)
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Organizational skills to handle multiple assignments efficiently
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from project sites

Location

This internship will be based in either our Milwaukee, WI, Madison, WI or Neenah, WI o ffice with opportunities for mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to project sites.

What We Are Looking For

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D (Geopak or 3D Modeling experience a plus, but not required)
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
